You don't call it a bay window? Or is it to much stone in there and to little window? It is a lovely house in a typical, I would call, americana style. But perhaps you should call it georgian.
ReplyDeleteOh, sad.. I always loved this style of home - not sure what it should be called, but I sure do like it!
ReplyDeleteI like the house, so sorry to have it demolished.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very sad photo. "Progress" has taken down too many beautiful homes and other sites!
ReplyDeleteThe side has a little style to it. The front of the house is kind of clumsy.
ReplyDeleteI hate to see homes come down.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lowell....very sad. This is such a wonderful piece of architecture and history....glad you snapped a photo of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is sad. It is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou can see these homes in Stouville jut outside the main town. Andy going up to the 9th line. I am so glad they are not taken down there.
These houses have so much character they beat the matchbox houses of modern homes.
I love your take.
so sad...do you have people who come in and salvage stuff from the house to re-purpose? hate to see all that history just disappear :(
ReplyDeleteIt's a horrible thing to tear these homes down.
ReplyDeleteNot sure either, though the windows are shaped like what we call bay windows. How sad this lovely place will be gone in the name of progress...
ReplyDeleteHey "Neighbour" I'm your latest follower.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by and commenting, you made me laugh on my Signs, Signs post.
What a shame!
ReplyDelete"Progress" led to the distruction of much of historic San Francisco in the 1960s and 70s. And I wouldn't say that what replaced it enriched anyone's lives very much.
Sad that a beautiful house like this must be demolished.
ReplyDeleteMy husband would call this "a Kay house" and he'd be right. I can't resist those big verandas.
ReplyDeleteK
It is too bad to lose this interesting house, but nothing lasts forever.
