They will need a lot of buses.
ReplyDeleteNice one this stop from a tram.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Meanwhile, here in D.C., we're reverting from buses to streetcars in certain places.
ReplyDeleteBack to work?
ReplyDeleteUgh - that will not be fun.
ReplyDeleteTrolley's have about 1000X the coolness factor. Another fine street shot.
ReplyDelete...oh, she is so stylish with her knees hanging out.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly a shame. The auto/bus companies must have gotten to the powers-that-be. Following WWII, they gathered together and bought up most of the tram lines in this country, destroyed them and thus, voila! everyone had to buy their buses.
ReplyDeleteThis was done by a front company organized by GM, Standard Oil, Firestone Tire, and others to replace streetcars with busses. They were found guilty of conspiracy and fined a few thousand dollars, but they were successful in nearly eliminating streetcars from the U.S. A number of cities are now rebuilding light rail systems at a cost of billions of dollars.
DeleteHopefully, those people have figured out their alternate plans.
ReplyDeleteThat is a long time no streetcars, I like riding streetcars.
ReplyDelete43000 riders, on one route! That's over 3x the total population of my town.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of riders for one route. at least they have an alternative for a backup. What's with the ripped pants these days, you see them here too.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be crazy down there, Andy! The King St cars will be totally packed!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the drivers remember how to steer! (Really, I AM just kidding)
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be chaotic.
ReplyDeletei don't know much about your area but around here, summers are the busiest!! i don't know why they do these big construction projects during the summer when they can be done in spring and fall. our weather is fine!!!
ReplyDeleteSeems a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, but was wondering about her clothes :)
Hope the streetcars will be back this fall operating better than ever. Cities are discovering that streetcars promote urban development that busses do not. The tracks are permanent so developers are willing to build near stops. I do like your photo. It is a fine street shot.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of people making adjustments. I hope there are enough buses to keep people moving.
ReplyDeleteAndy, they will need you to get back in a driver's seat.
