Yes a lot shop compagnies are closing their doors lately. Wonder what we are going to do with all that empty space in the future.
ReplyDelete...man, has that industry changed or what!
ReplyDeleteI still have my old vinyl albums but no player anymore.
ReplyDeleteA new niche market arising.
ReplyDeleteOur local Best Buy had a large part of the store dedicated for CD sales, I'm not sure if they even sell them anymore. Vinyl resurgence is very interesting to me. I recently repaired my 40 year-old turntable (you know, when things were built such that they could be repaired).
ReplyDeleteAndy, you are not helping my cause. Our basement is full of things the RG says we might need some day including his vinyl records. ;)
ReplyDeleteNow there is a business switch I wouldn't have guessed. I understand the CD and DVD thing, When I moved I got rid of my DVD player entirely and now stream everything on line. As for the vinyl, that is a resurgent I simply don't get. They take up a huge amount of room and they aways sound scratchy even when they are new. I guess it's a collectors thing.
ReplyDeleteMusic stores, the ones I've seen, are vacant over here too. Times have changed. I gave all my vinyl albums away years ago when I lived in Alaska, tired of moving them around. Moving here, CDs went the way the vinyls did, gave them away. Digital files is it for me.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed their shops. I was a regular customer.
ReplyDeleteChanging times, Andy! And so fast!!
ReplyDeleteBut, how long will the resurgence in vinyl last....
ReplyDeleteNo surprise--- i've been a music lover/hifi buff since I was in high school--- long time. I'm just now re-discovering vinyl. Most of my listening is hi rez files and vinyl these days. (Classical)
ReplyDeleteI still buy a lot of CD's - over 1500 of them on my racks - but most stores can't match on-line pricing, much less deliver to my door with the mailman. Times change.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd see vinyl be popular again. Like Marleen, I no longer have a player.
ReplyDeleteWow, I remember vinyl. Have not bought a real record in decades. Good luck to that business enterprise. I still own a turntable, but it is no longer hooked up to my amplifier.
