Mayor John Tory says he has a “deep concern” about the number of people sleeping on the streets of Toronto and the encampments that persistently pop up in the downtown. “It’s not that I’m embarrassed about it. I mean I am embarrassed about it, but it’s more that I just feel, morally, surely we can do better than this. |

...this is serious problem!
ReplyDeleteIt must give an uncomfortable feeling to photograph these people on the streets. I know its a picture of our times but also very troublesome.
ReplyDeleteI am just trying to give the homeless face.
DeleteI know this is problem way more complex that not having a home and it's very sad.
ReplyDeleteFunding mental health properly on all levels would be a start.
ReplyDeleteThere is a homeless shelter in Ocala, I believe. The powers-that-be attempt to keep the homeless off the streets but they are not entirely successful. Another poignant photo!
ReplyDeleteMy best friend David worked for our homeless shelter until last month when he moved to the Arizona Humane Society. He does fund raising and donor relations. He has been telling me about the huge differences between reactions he gets to working to support homeless people and working to support homeless animals. I think there is an interesting message about human nature in there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see this.
ReplyDeleteAndy, this is a sad photo, but perfect in b&w. Homelessness is a common and longstanding problem in our nation. We do what we can to end it.
ReplyDeleteVery sad to see. It's a global problem in lots of big cities.
