Bad Photo?

Andy | Saturday, October 07, 2017 | Best Blogger Tips
I recently read an an article "Why Publishing Your Bad Photos Is Never a Mistake". You can view it here. I decided to give it a try. Normally I like my photos to be sharp but this one came came out blurry. The reason for that is 1.lighting conditions were low 2.my iso was not set high enough 3.the subject was moving faster than I anticipated. I really liked the scene and the eerie atmosphere it created. So if you are leaving a comment please tell me (good or bad) what you think. This does not mean that my future postings will be blurry.

  1. Give it up, Andy. It stinks! You were right the first time. Blurry photos are a mistake, no matter what some moron writing an article thinks. :)

  2. I agree. There are those special circumstances where what I at first considered a "bad" photo actually turned out to be more interesting than the "better" photo I might have taken. So I do try to resist the urge to toss everything until I've at least had a chance to look it over in more detail on my computer.

  3. I will have to read that article. I am very picky with my photos. I try not to be, but I'm finding that hard. Especially when it comes to portraits. So it's probably good to save, and even publish a few bad ones every now and then.

  4. I rarely post a blurry photo, in my mind they have to be sharp, but sometimes I like a photo anyway as you thougt too. So I think so now and than a blurry photo is alright when it represent an atmosphere. Well done this one!

  6. It captures the mood and I do think sometimes a photo with bad technical attributes is still a good photo.

  7. Andy, an article is very encouraging. I feel much better after reading it.
Some photographers always strive for perfection, they try so hard that their photos are loosing soul.
I like your photo above. It has a mood and a mystery. And that is what counts, the rest is not important.
What is important also do you like this photo? If yes, it's a good photograph because it speaks to you.

  8. Sometimes a shot like this winds up evoking quite a dream-like feel, so it ends up working well.

  9. I think it's a wonderful photo. I've noticed the same thing. Normally I'd delete a blurry photo but, every now and then, there is just something about the shot that begs me to keep it. This would be one of those times. This photo has serious atmosphere! I also love how you capture that light right in the crook of her arm.

  10. The night images can stand to be blurry. Like the appearance of the subject carrying a light under his/her arm. In this case I disagree with Lowell. You caught a mood.

  11. I don't mind it but I think I prefer not blurry! It was worth posting it though, Andy!

  12. Hi Andy, maybe I was a little harsh trying to be funny. But after reading all the comments, I went back and looked more closely at the photo. I shouldn't have said is "stinks." But I would not post it myself. There are times when parts of a photo can be out of focus, but this doesn't do it for me. At the same time, it's your photo, and if you like it post it everywhere. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and one's man beauty may not be that of another man. :)

  13. Much can be done with shots that might be considered a mistake. This is interesting in many different ways--- Some might crop it to highlight various things. There's blurry and there's diffused. I'm not quick to toss anything.

  14. It's not your best effort. I'm spoiled because your shots are so flawless. But I do like the effect of that light on the woman's arm. It looks as if she's carrying an orb. That makes it an interesting shot.

  15. The photo it ok - it's different and it might have been done on purpose to full people - but I know it wasn't :)

  16. I always throw such a picture out.
But now when I look at it with the idea, it's not so bad, especially when it raises the photographer's memory.

  17. I am in the camp that does believe that an occasional blurred image is worth showing if it captures something special, but I am also in the camp that feels this image is not that one. The composition is not especially interesting to me, and if there is a mood or feeling I was intended to get, I didn't. Sorry, Andy.
