This one is in Canada but according to Wikipedia the breed was developed in the Scottish Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland. Breeding stock has been exported to the rest of the world, especially Australia and North America, since the early 20th Century. The breed was developed from two sets of stock, one originally black, and the other reddish.

Everywhere in Holland where is a so called nature park you see this animals to keep the growth of plants in hand but when you walk there they are very big on 5 m distance without out a fence between you and them.
ReplyDeleteAs cattle go these are probably the most cuddly looking. Although I don't recommend trying it.
ReplyDeleteHighland coos are great in many ways, looking and tasting for sure, and that's no bull. There are two herds of them around here that I know of.
