I'm no expert so all of this info is from the internet.
Birch tree flowers known as catkins appear early in spring and release their pollen in clouds during April, and the seeds ripen from July to August. The scented flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant) and are pollinated by wind. The small (1-2 mm) winged seeds ripening in late summer.
I always like the way the trees look at you with their "eyes".
ReplyDeleteA sturdy and impressive trio.
ReplyDeleteBirch trees have always reminded me of the north especially around lakes and streams.
ReplyDeleteSo fascinating, and I love the textural quality in both pix!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo. I had four birch trees on my yard and did i get some yellow on my yard.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI have seen lots of birches in my lifetime, but no flowers. They are really interesting. That first photo is so inviting. THe trees add lots to the landscaping and the macro in the second really lets us see what the catkins look line. genie
ReplyDeleteLove the birch trees. We planted five several years ago. Sadly, only one remains and it is a bit pathetic.
ReplyDeleteWe have these up North which to me fits in with the country.Gods Country lakes and all boundries. Most people when they have them in the city look like they really are caught between city and country living in their minds.
