Located on a gravel pit that was abandon about 30 years ago. It is an area where I have done considerable walking. I stopped in 2011 when the local conservation authority purchased the land and placed "No Trespassing" signs up. They just recently removed the signs, so I deiced to do some exploring. Past activities have altered the topography, drainage and ability to support historic vegetation. There is very little topsoil and the ground is mostly sand and gravel. Fortunately Mother Nature has her own plans and is making a comeback.

Hope that it may be undisturbed for the coming years so nature get a real change and perhaps from the same spot some more photo's over the years to come to see the changes. Idea for a little project Andy?
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see how nature is taking over the land again.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a habitat for all kinds of birds and animals.
ReplyDeleteWIth all the plant life and the flowing water there should be new top soil being built. Looks like a fine wildlife habitat.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks as if nature has been busy there, Andy!
ReplyDeleteGive nature time and space, and it heals itself quite well.
ReplyDeleteIsn't mother nature wonderful? She really transforms what man destroys.
ReplyDeleteI'd hope that some good people can help Mother Nature along. There's a lot that can be done with restoring native vegetation and improving habitat...for animals and for people.
ReplyDeleteThe stream of water looks lovely. Nice to see that place returning to it's former self..
ReplyDeleteIt looks wild and beautiful!
ReplyDeletePS: Met a lady from Whitby recently in Munich. We spent the morning together on a walking tour. Meeting someone from my former "hometown" was so uplifting. Hope all is well for you!
Oh this is great refreshing news and picture. . We at times where we used to Live Andy have this and it has been known the Beavers blocked the flowing time and again. Neighbor Dave took my hubby and showed him. The creek was beginning to dry up. Is it possible that could happen in this area of yours?
