Friend Or Foe?

I'm told that this plant is an invasive species. I see it growing in and around shallow waterways. This photo was taken a few days ago. So that makes it last years growth. Normally in the growing season the grass is a green colour.

Perspective

The garden nursery is giving these plants and shrubs a head start in this green house. It was the perspective that caught my eye. Can you see the kitty in the photo?

Train Power

I was just going to walk across the tracks when the arms dropped, the bells sounded and the flashing lights came on. I actual heard the train whistle before all this happened. Originally I had plans to take a self photo of me standing on the tracks. I have a 365 project that requires me to take my photo every day for one year. This would have been number 299. After the train passed I changed my mind about standing on the tracks. You can see the results below.

The train went by at 80 KPH. That helped me change my mind about where to stand.

The strong winds have made my country's flag a bit on the tattered side. A few days after I took this photo the owner replaced it with a new one.

Odd Man Out

This house does not fit in with the rest of the typical homes in the neighbourhood. Oh yea... When you come out through the front door, watch that first step it's a lulu.

Window View

I couldn't resist photographing this scene. The view out the window is not much to look at. There's the street and a parking lot across the road. Sometimes it's possible to spot crazy looking photographers.

Roll Up The Rim

This is for the people that viewed my "Roll UP The Rim" posting of last Wednesday and wanted to see a coffee cup with the rim rolled up. On this cup "Please Play Again" means I'm loser. In the past I have won free coffees or donuts. The price will vary considerably by location, franchise, and country. Tim Hortons has franchise locations in the USA, although some were discontinued in New England in 2010. I normally purchase a Medium 14 oz. for $1.50 Canadian.

Signs, Signs - Roll Up The Rim

I don't know if this is a phenomenon that occurs in Canada only. Go to Tim Hortons Coffee Shop (they are everywhere) and purchase a coffee. It's served in a paper cup with an arrow that points to the rim. Roll up the rim and that reveals a message to what you have won. It could range from play again, to a free coffee, or a Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE. This promotion only last for a few weeks but it is an annual event.

Photographed these guys and gals inside at the garden nursery. This week is March break for all school children. Vandermeer Nursery will be having turtle races every day Noon.

An industrial ear piercing or construction piercing, is any two pierced holes connected with a single straight piece of jewelry.

Photos were taken within minutes after the piercing.

Working In The rain

Yesterday was a rainy one and I was watching the cable guys install TV and internet cable. There are no special software effects here. The only thing I did was resize for the internet and sharpened a bit.

Signs, Signs - Freedom

The town of Ajax has one of the largest off leash dog parks I have ever seen. Located in an old quarry it is now part of the Greenwood Conservation area. The quarry has been reclaimed and is slowly coming back to a more natural state. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

This is a continuation of my postings on the Pickering Pedestrian Bridge. Construct work continues on the bridge but unofficially access has been permitted. I took this photo on the span above the westbound traffic of Hwy. 401.

In Like A Lamb

This is how the weather looked here on March 1, 2012. As the day went on most of the snow melted. It was just another baby snow fall. They say if March comes in like lamb it will go out like lion. I'll post another photo on March 31 so you can compare.

Chrysler

According to the The Toronto Star Chrysler Canada reported a 19 per cent sales boost for September — its best September in a decade — but for the industry overall the month proved difficult.
Overall September auto sales in Canada proved flat, down 0.4 per cent from the same period last year. Year to date, sales marginally rose 1.5 per cent compared to the first three quarters of 2010.
