Sunday Bridges - Mystery
A little twist on bridges that hope you find acceptable. The foreground has two bridge footings of a long forgotten railroad bridge over the river valley. In the background is the present day bridge. I can't find any history about ether one. I'm taking a wild guess that the bridge was damaged on October 15, 1954 when Hurricane Hazel, the most famous hurricane in Canadian history struck Southern Ontario. I'm linking to San Francisco Bay Sunday Bridges.

Signs, Signs - Playing.
I thought the silhouette of the kid on the toboggan looked cute. This area is part of a busy winter snowmobile trail. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Neck Tag
I spotted this goose at the waterfront the day before. At that time she seemed in stress and was trying to remove the tag. I was concerned. I had no camera (big mistake) and returned the next day and was able to find her again. She was handling the banding much better. Because I had never seen this kind of identification before I did a Google search and found out that it is more common than I realized.

Signs, Signs - Parking
A few years back I placed this sign in the driveway for my daughter. She really does believe she is a royal princess. So if you don't want warts beware of where you park. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Collingwood Terminals
This imposing structure can be seen for miles around Collingwood and symbolizes the twin engines of commerce in the early 1900's, agriculture and shipping.
In 1899, the Collingwood Council identified the need to erect a Modern elevator, but due to low water levels, construction was delayed until 1929, when the Federal government agreed to pay for dredging.
The two million bushel grain elevator has bins 100 feet high and 22 feet in diameter. The steamer MUNISING arrived in September 1929 with 228,000 bushels of American grain, the first shipment for this important new structure, the third grain elevator in Collingwood's growing economy.
Grain service stopped in 1993, ending 64 years of operation for the cement elevator and 123 years of grain trade in Collingwood. The terminals, now owned by the Town of Collingwood, continue as a modern day landmark and will be an important part of the future redevelopment of Collingwood Harbour. The above description can be found on the Town Of Collingwood's web page.

It's All Bull
This one is in Canada but according to Wikipedia the breed was developed in the Scottish Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland. Breeding stock has been exported to the rest of the world, especially Australia and North America, since the early 20th Century. The breed was developed from two sets of stock, one originally black, and the other reddish.

Ranting About Unfairness
The price of oil drops but in Canada the price of gas goes up. Selling for $1.329 per litre equals about $5.00 per USA gallon. The price changes daily. The surprising part is that the tv and radio news outlets are able to tell us the day before how much it is going up and they do that much better than they predict the weather. I find it amazing that all gas stations regardless of brand raise their price exactly the same. Then the government has the impudent to tell us there is no evidences of price fixing.

Earth Hour Countdown
One hour three minutes and 10 seconds until Earth Hour Canada.
Earth Hour Anthem
when the lights go down
i want to be here with you
and the million candles that we light
when the lights go down
i want to dream something new
and let the stars come out tonight
we can feel the change around us
my bit is part of making a difference
so whenever you stop in silence
hear your heart at rest
beautiful, picturesque land
care and respect go hand in hand
it's time that we take a stand here
knowing we're sweetly blessed
chorus
to treat the earth kind is our message
and we will never forget this
when every day we're left breathless
by the glow of the sun
the future is ours to own now
with every voice raised up so loud
with every hand in and lights out
it's time to unite as one
