The City Of Toronto is having a construction boom. A former University Health Network (UHN) nursing residence, the building now under demolition is located on the corners of Gerrard St. West and Elizabeth St.
It used to be nineteen stories tall with five apartments wide on each floor of the four sides.
A lecture hall facility for the UHN will be built on the site.

  1. I didn't think y'all tore buildings down but rather restored them. This looks like something we'd do down here. I think we build to last most of 20 years, then put up something new! :)

  2. interesting sometimes as how they tear down what appear to be perfectly good buildings just to build another!

  4. Now they invest in learning instead of housing. Looking at the way the demografica is going I think it is a wise decision.

  5. Hopefully it is wise investment indeed. Toronto seems to change a lot, like many big cities now it just never stands still...

  6. I guess since the whole nursing school system has changed and they now go to university instead of studying at the hospitals, there is no need for a residence!

  7. Oh dear, Lowell. Yes, we tear down lots of buildings. In Hamilton we're dealing with developers tearing down undesignated historical buildings without even having a plan in place for a replacement.

  8. I am astonished at how much construction is going on in Toronto. If I saw one crane in Hartford, I would shout for joy.

  9. Oh yes we have had some construction lately. First preparing the bridge where it was letting go and falling near cars. I think they need to pull it down as fixing it Micky Mouse will not solve it.

Oh humour time Andy did you see the old Mayor Hazel McCallion holding for dear life on that huge catch and big guy Rob Ford holding on to her. What a hoot. What a ficey gal she is for 90.

Well Rob for now is in the good books.
