Discarded cigarette butts (mainly the filter) are a form of non-biodegradable litter. Carried as runoff from streets to drains, to rivers, and ultimately to the ocean and its beaches. Cigarette butts and cigar tips, an emerging concern. It is unsightly, costly to clean up, and harmful to waterways and wildlife. One of solutions are butt receptacles like this one.

Nice solution but now educating the public to use it.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I see so many cigarette butts on the streets indeed, because everybody is smoking outside nowadays. This is the solution.
ReplyDeleteSmoking is a dirty business for one's health and that of the environment. Hopefully smokers will use those receptacles!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one before. Glad to know someone is doing something about this filthy litter.
ReplyDeleteWe have too few ashtrays and it shows in every corner and streets.
ReplyDeleteThey should be a very lot in everywhere, It is another matter, then it's who they are emptied.
A sensible design, unlike the plastic ones I see in the US that seem to occasionally catch on fire.
ReplyDeleteGood idea but, you have to get people to actually use them.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't enough of these containers around, Andy!
ReplyDeleteA good solution- if people use them.
ReplyDeleteThe other solution is to have a dollar a but deposit on each one. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteThis is new to me!
ReplyDeleteAnother solution is for people to not smoke. Xrays of my mother's lungs after a lifetime of smoking might help do the trick...
ReplyDeleteIf people have to smoke, I am glad that things like this are available, but I see far too many smokers who just flick their butts onto the ground.
