I don't know how or why these items are here. They look like concrete pipes that are used for storm and sanitary gravity sewer systems. In the early 1960's I used come here with my friends to smelt fish. At that time there were houses along this portion of the lake. The land is presently owned by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the homes were demolished to make way for the Waterfront Trail. |

They seem to stand there for some time already, strange. There is a lot of demolition going on Andy, but the waterfront trail looks nice to have a walk.
ReplyDeletewhen you find sights like this you are free to make up your own story
ReplyDeletePerhaps a little protection for the trees behind by drifting ice or something like that.
ReplyDeleteThey're curious. I seem to recall seeing something similar before.
ReplyDeleteIt stays a mystery.
ReplyDeleteThey look like they have been there for a while, Andy!
ReplyDeleteI would like to think they serve a purpose. A little unsightly.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why they were never installed, what a waste. Could they be providing some kind of soil erosion protection??
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Did visit and read from the link.
ReplyDeleteYes, they look like storm or sanitary sewer pipes...but those are usually horizontal, not vertical, aren't they? Curious!
ReplyDeleteAre they filled with rocks or concrete? I don't think think they'd need protection from high waves. They look a little high to be the base for a pier.
