| The City's Commemorative Bench Program invites the public to pay tribute to a loved one that has passed on by purchasing a bench ($1200) for installation in a public park or open space. The City provides an attractive plaque for mounting at no extra cost, with wording provided by the contributor. Usually on the anniversary off death, without fanfare, a friend or love one will leave a bouquet of flowers or some other gesture. |

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea. Although someone has passed, anyone can take rest or comfort in their memory. I always stop to read the inscriptions.

ReplyDeleteI saw these plaque installatios in the benches for the first time in Germany many years ago. It is, in my opinion, a wonderful way to donate a bench. We do not have this way, and there are often insufficient benches when the city has not put them in place after the winter.
