Buddhist Temple

Located at the Duc Quang Buddhist Centre you will find a a cluster of white marble statues. Before the temple, the site was home to Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church. Starting in 2005 the Monks began using the church to practice Buddhism. When the 100 year old building was razed in 2012, they decided to build a temple there for their small community. “The place was very holy, that’s why we wanted to make a Buddhist Temple here,” says monk Thich Chan Phap.

  3. That's all very interesting and your photograph is, as usual, terrific. At first I thought it might be a giant chess set, which tells you how much I know about chess and Buddhism. :)

  4. It's very cool that the monk recognized that the place was holy, regardless of the religion. We should all be that way.

  5. I had to googled this one. Your pic is far superior to any on the web. You picked a great angle.

Did not expect to see this temple sitting in a residential neighborhood. Very cool.

  8. Doesn't exactly scream "Toronto" does it. I don't think I'd have been able to pass by without a photo or two either.

  13. I don't know why but I've always thought that Buddhist temples would look more old if that makes sense, the building looks quite modern.
