I often regret that in our cities and our villages, chessboards or checkerboards are not so settled so that we can play at any time with a person who passes. Excellent photo!
ReplyDeleteYou most love that game in these conditions and by the look of it they do. Nice B&W.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, to lean on a stonecold table for a long time....not my cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteall weather entertainment
ReplyDeleteBless them :). Reminds me of people having coffee outside in winter, not for me.
ReplyDeleteIt makes for a great pic though, Andy!
ReplyDeleteI see they have wood slats for the seats, which would help. Nice street shot.
ReplyDeleteApparently some people don't mind the cold. Nice image, Andy.
ReplyDelete...I wouldn't be able to sit still that long.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Brrr...my hands would be numb.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell's wrong with you people up there? When it's cold outside you go inside. That's not that difficult a concept. Sheesh! Nice shot, though. You could label it "Dumbasses." Heh, heh. Down in Miami, which is now overridden with Cubans you'll find old Cubans sitting around playing chess in every direction. But Miami is a lot warmer than the North Pole.
ReplyDeleteThey're playing for high stakes- world domination.
ReplyDeleteOne of the parks I pass through regularly has a couple of these inlaid into tables, but you only see them being used for that in warm weather.
Too cold for me to sit and play a game. The master and the student comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing this, reminds me of a movie scene.
ReplyDeleteThat is so rare to see how people play chess on the streets.
ReplyDeleteMy father used to do this with his friends.
Andy, this is an outstanding photograph!
Love your title--- and that's a great picture!
ReplyDeleteI don't love chess enough for that
ReplyDeleteI agree. I don't think I'd even take Words with Friends (that I play on my phone) outside. But I like the photo you got of these competitors.
ReplyDeleteMuy bien captada esta escena de la vida en la calle
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
What strikes me about this image is the many contrasts: white hair/black hair, white chess pieces/black, young/old, glasses/no glasses, backpack/ground pack . . . but one main focus.
ReplyDeleteYes, fanatics indeed.
