Sunday Bridges - Mystery

Andy | Sunday, April 22, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

A little twist on bridges that hope you find acceptable. The foreground has two bridge footings of a long forgotten railroad bridge over the river valley. In the background is the present day bridge. I can't find any history about ether one. I'm taking a wild guess that the bridge was damaged on October 15, 1954 when Hurricane Hazel, the most famous hurricane in Canadian history struck Southern Ontario. I'm linking to San Francisco Bay Sunday Bridges.

  1. These footings looked like they were pretty substantial, but one can never tell with a hurricane!

  2. I have heard about that hurricane but I didn't know her name was Hazel. Oct 15th is my birthday, but quite a few years after Hazel struck! Interesting post today. :)

  3. I think your idea about the hurricane is a very logical one. I notice that one is upright and the other is leaning a bit. I really do like the perspective from which you shot this one. genie

  5. Makes me think of the old bridge pilings crossing the Powell River on the way to our lake marina. The old road was right next to the new one, so they are very visible. - Margy
