This Tree Has Sole
I've seen a few of theses tree shoes in my travels. There's various reasons why they get started. It could start from one person tossing his or her footwear high into the sky, to catch on an out of reach branch. That first pair of shoes triggers a shoe cascade until you get a roadside attraction like this one.

Signs, Signs - Gas Price
It's me in the Go Transit train station with this week's sign about gas prices. That's one thing we all agree about... we are being gouged at the pumps. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Signs, Signs - Smoke-House BBQ
It's Johnny Midnights reflecting in the overhead glass canopy. The name sounds like it's straight out of the 1960's. We had a few Johnnys back then. There's Johnny Cash, Johnny Angel, Johnny Yuma and Johnny Sombrero. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

If you ever see a cheese shop and want to have some fun... go inside and ask them to cut the cheese. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Dead Elephant Beer
This is a continuation from yesterday's posting. Railway City Brewing Company of St Thomas, Ontario has introduce Dead Elephant Ale as a tribute to Jumbo the Elephant. It has a strong taste to it but I liked it enough that I will be purchasing more on my next visit to the brewery.

Jumbo
Jumbo was billed as the largest elephant in the world. He was the star attraction at “The Greatest Show on Earth,” the Barnum & Bailey Circus that was performing in St. Thomas, Ontario when he was struck and killed by a train locomotive on September 15, 1885.

Sunday Bridges - Little Rouge River Bridge
Located on a quiet winding roadway, it's a short but very scenic road that winds through Rouge Park in eastern Toronto.
*******************************************
This bridge is a small, but well-preserved example of a concrete bowstring through arch, sometimes called a rainbow arch type of bridge. This structure type may have once been common, and although a number of examples survive scattered throughout the province, this structure type should be considered rare today. I looked for a construction date but saw none.

Creemore's Jail - North America's Smallest
*******************************
Built in 1892 at a cost of $425.20, Creemore's jail is advertised as the smallest jail in North America.
*******************************
*******************************
There are three cells within the jail and during the period of operation it generally incarcerated people for drinking offenses. The jail was used from 1892 until the 1940's when it was locked up and left vacant. It currently is open to visitors during the summer months. If you are in Creemore you must stop by. It is at the corner of Library St. and Caroline Streets, next to the Creemore Public Library.
