The yellow balloons are reminders that water also brings death. It’s been 18 years since
six teenagers vanished March 17, 1995 in the waters of Lake Ontario in Pickering. Their disappearance remains a mystery. Every year the families of the six boys gather at the beach and tie memorial balloons onto the tree.
A sad and moving story. No monster of Loch Ness I assume.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad day for those families. Nature can be so beautiful as depicted in this scene yet it can be so brutal and bring so much sorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat an intriguing story that never something has found of the boys and the boats. Must be terrible for their families.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is sad. I can't even imagine their pain.
ReplyDeleteI have read of the mysterious disappearances of people there--but hadn't heard of this one. My hearts go out to the families on this day. Those balloons, still placed at the lake's edge show the aching spot they left when they could not be found. Thank you for sharing this. I spent a moment to pray for those families.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's a heartbreaker for sure.
ReplyDeleteA very sad story and interesting remembrance.
ReplyDeleteThose poor families. The yellow balloons are a poignant reminder.
