Water Mystery

Andy | Sunday, March 31, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

The yellow balloons are reminders that water also brings death. It’s been 18 years since
six teenagers vanished March 17, 1995 in the waters of Lake Ontario in Pickering. Their disappearance remains a mystery. Every year the families of the six boys gather at the beach and tie memorial balloons onto the tree.

Signs, Signs - The Press Gang

Andy | Wednesday, March 27, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

The sign clearly shows a "Press Gang". They were used in the 18th and early 19th centuries, to take men into the British Navy by force and with or without notice. Thank goodness things have changed and in present time "The Press Gang" is a restaurant that offers fine dining in the heart of downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'm linking to Lesley's Signs, Signs.

Mystery Insects

Andy | Monday, March 25, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

I went for a hike in the forest and came across a sight I had never seen in the winter before. This caterpillar was making his way through the snow.

*****************************

I also spotted this bug making his trek across the snow. In fact there were quite a few theses creatures in the snow The ground was covered in snow and no vegetation had start to grow. Because of the lack of food and cold night time temperatures I don't expect either one to survive.

Weekend Water #3

Andy | Sunday, March 24, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

Stitched together using software this is my panorama of a dam located on Duffins Creek. The dam (which was repaired in 2002) is currently used to provide a physical barrier to separate migratory fish species such as rainbow trout and chinook salmon (downstream of the dam) from native brook trout (upstream of the dam).

Signs, Signs - Orange Simpson's

Andy | Wednesday, March 06, 2013 | Best Blogger Tips

I came upon this equipment rusting away on a rural lot. Everyone should be familiar with Orange Crush. When it comes to Simpson's I would think you'd have to be Canadian to know what they were all about. Simpson's was a Canadian department store chain, founded by Robert Simpson in 1858. The Hudson's Bay Company purchased the chain in 1978, and it ceased operation in the 1990's.
